Our Story

Crafting Elegance in Israel's Southern Highlands

History

Established in 2000 as a collaboration between local vine-growers and Carmel Winery, Yatir Winery has emerged as a symbol of innovation and quality in Israeli winemaking. Situated near the ancient Tel Arad Fort, the winery blends modern techniques with a region steeped in over 2,500 years of viticultural history. Today, Yatir produces approximately 150,000 bottles annually, reflecting its commitment to excellence.

Location

Nestled at the edge of the Negev Desert, Yatir Winery is located at the foot of the Israelite Tel Arad Fort, just ten minutes from its vineyards in the Yatir Forest. This unique setting combines desert conditions with high-altitude terrain, creating a distinctive microclimate that contributes to the character of Yatir's wines.

Vineyards and Wines

Yatir's vineyards, planted in 1997, are situated within the Yatir Forest, benefiting from well-drained soils and significant diurnal temperature variations. The winery's portfolio includes its flagship Yatir Forest blend, as well as varietals like Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Viognier. These wines have garnered international acclaim, with Yatir Forest consistently receiving high ratings from critics.

Winemaker

Eran Goldwasser, Yatir's head winemaker since its inception, brings a wealth of experience from his studies at the University of Adelaide and work in Australian wineries. His expertise has been instrumental in establishing Yatir's reputation for producing wines that express the unique terroir of the region.
